Flooded Productions
a Western student founded and led theatre production company
Flooded Productions is a Western student founded and led theatre production company committed to bringing fun, accessible, and meaningful theatre to Bellingham. The founders, Allissa Flood, Anna Olsen, and Hannah Smith love doing theatre in any and every way, and after a “why not just do it ourselves?” conversation, the company was created. It began as a way to do theatre they love with people they love, and are now setting their sights on reaching out and expanding to more of the theatre community out there.
The trio recognize all the wonderful individuals who have helped them get where they are now and keep this company above water. While still relatively new, they are so excited for what’s in store for the future and hope everyone stays tuned for their next adventure at the New Prospect Theatre.
Bellingham Puppet Slam
A Puppetry showcase
Bellingham puppet slam showcases short form puppetry for adults. The Bellingham Puppet Slam cultivates a community of puppetry arts, providing a space to show short works and excerpts of works in progress from established and emerging puppeteers. We (the curators, West of Roan) have also performed in several puppet slams in Asheville NC, Columbo SC, and Seattle WA.
Bellingham Story Hour
hosted by Kamarie Chapman
My name is Kamarie Chapman and I am so excited to get this community story hour up and running so we can see what it becomes. My story starts in the Pacific Northwest on Whidbey Island and then shifted over to Bellingham where I spent my time as an angsty, teen in the 1990s. I left and lived a sordid and bizarre life that included getting a Bachelor’s degree here at WWU, writing a lot of plays and mediocre poetry, traveling, learning hard lessons, and performing and teaching all over this country. But all roads led back here to Bellinghome. And over the last 13 years of teaching, and living, and writing so many words to be performed, there is a part of me that has been so committed to sharing story. Because stories belong to us all, and when we share them we generate a connection unlike any other. I’m sure that’s a belief I have always held close. And while I wear a few hats this idea of helping get a story sharing platform up and going here in this very special town is bringing me a lot of joy. So I hope you all will come and participate; form connections with people you may never have known. Mostly, I hope we can celebrate the stories we all have share. Thanks for trusting me to help form this truly awesome event.
Little Lemon Productions
A Creative space for students by students
Beginning in 2018, Little Lemon Productions (LLP), started by Adaryn Healy and Brody Buck, worked to create a safe, creative space for students by students. Our first project showed our student community that we have the ability and power to create meaningful, fun, and beautiful art together. LLP allows students from all schooling and performing backgrounds to learn and grow together. By creating this space, we can ensure all students have an opportunity to shine in many different ways, such as; Directing, Stage Management, Light and Sound work, Set Design, Music Direction, Pit Orchestra Direction and Membership, and many, many more. Adaryn and Brody began this company with the hope that students from all the surrounding areas could have access to theater that is inclusive and empowering. As time has gone on, LLP has continued to expand its team and its student outreach; it regularly has student participants from 3 different school districts and seven different high schools.
