We would like to introduce you to the storytellers of
Storytelling Week!
Bellingham Story Hour was the first ongoing monthly show to find their home at the New Prospect Theatre. Krissa is part of our social media team – if you have read a clever, funny or engaging post – more than likely it was written by Krissa.
Hosted by Kamarie Chapman and Krissa Woiwod (with special guest star Danielle Morgan); Bellingham Story Hour creates a space for remembering that we’re all in this together, that our experiences are both completely unique, entirely universal, and that we’re all just a bunch of weirdos trying our best.
Bellingham Story Hour presents a LIVE Story Share event each month. In addition, they offer engaging monthly true storytelling workshops dedicated to helping you find and develop your true stories. Inspired by the Moth Radio Hour but filtered through the lens of The City of Subdued Excitement; Bellingham Story Hour is dedicated to celebrating the beauty in life’s quieter moments, the spaces in between, and the often-overlooked narratives may not involve high stakes or grand adventures. The stories showcased are always a delightful blend of entertainment, heartfelt moments, cautionary tales, cringe-worthy observations, personal revelations, universal struggles, oddities, and everything in between. Above all they are authentic, personal and yet universal experiences, making both the telling and listening incredibly rewarding.
Dennis McSorley is a long-time collaborator with Firefly Productions. He has been grounded in Iceland with Keefe Healy (that darn volcano) on the way to perform “Moment House” in Budapest, nominated for best actor at the Brighton Fringe for his portrayal of Locke in “Fish Dancing”, and played a Coronel in “Dogs of War”. That is just with Firefly – he has appeared in over 50 productions on stages in the US and the UK – and that isn’t even counting his film work, but he is most known to us for his stories. We often can find ourselves entertained by his stories for hours!
A master storyteller and monologist, Dennis has performed his original work at the United Solo Festival, the Prague Fringe Festival, the SaraSolo Festival, and the Burlington Fringe Festival. He last visited the PNW with his solo piece “Typhoon of Tenderness” right before the shutdown (literally the week before) and has returned with his new show “Box of Squirrels” at the New Prospect Theatre for two nights only – Sept 28th and 30th.
Jayne Entwitsle is part of our New Prospect Theatre’s team. She volunteered early on and we adopted her (some would say kidnapped) while chanting “one of us, one of us”. She quickly became an integral part of our team. If you have gotten a beverage or snack at the theatre more than likely you have met her.
Jayne gets paid to read for a living (I’m so jealous) and is an award winning audiobook narrator recording for Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Tantor, Audible and several local Bellingham authors. When not reading for work or pleasure, she continues to pursue and acting career in television and film with credits such as: The Good Place, Grey’s Anatomy, Winning Time, You’re the Worst and Blockbuster.
To Whom It May Concern: A live show where folks read their letters on stage; real letters they’ve written or received, letters from the Whatcom Museum Archives, those letters we only wish we could write (and send) and improvised letters based on audience suggestions. A musician will accompany the letters creating an evening of Bellingham history and stories.

The Dara Knot Logo
The symbol comes from the Gaelic word ‘Doire’, which means “Oak Tree’. The Dara Knot is believed to represent the magnificent root system that robustly holds up the heavy body of an ancient oak tree.
New Prospect Theatre believes that it also represents interconnectivity, support and team building in the arts community.
