ANBAHAR’S BLACK MARKET THEATRE presents this popular drama directed by Shawn Fuller and starring two powerhouse local actresses.

4/2/2024- Bellingham WA – ANBAHAR’S BLACK MARKET THEATRE presents The Half-Life of Marie Curie, the hit drama from Audible written by the prolific American playwright Lauren Gunderson about the protective friendship of two leading female scientists over decades.  Directed by the award-winning Shawn Fuller, the play performs evenings over two weekends, May 2-May 12, at the New Prospect Theatre, with Sunday matinees.

The Half-Life of Marie Curie follows the travails of Marie Curie, hounded by the press over an affair gone wrong, and the literal and emotional sanctuary offered by her friend, English engineer and suffragette Hertha Ayrton.  Their feisty and dynamic relationship, forged in the fires of science, sexism, and an unjust world, sharpens the resolve and the minds of both women, who go on to even greater achievements.  Written with great heart and crackling humor by Lauren Gunderson, ANBAHAR’s The Half-Life of Marie Curie will be performed by talented local actresses Christina Aimerito and Jayne Entwistle contains science talk, adult languages, and adult situations.

ANBAHAR’s BLACK MARKET THEATRE is the Bellingham-based theater company owned by local artists Shawn Fuller and Sean Walbeck, which has produced plays locally and regionally with co-operative performers and designers for over two decades, and this is their debut production at New Prospect Theatre.

THE HALF-LIFE OF MARIE CURIE is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection.  (www.dramatists.com)
