DESCRIPTION:Road2Home presents an evening to learn\, share\, and reflect on the issue of housing instability and homelessness in our community. Like most days\, Conrad is on his way somewhere and he has to be on time. If anyone happens to notice\, he’s just another man\, wearing a suit and tie\, carrying a briefcase\, blending in. But Conrad’s fear of the future follows him like an ever present ghost. Finally\, in his darkest hour\, something catches his eye – something so simple\, so innocent that he’d completely forgotten\, had barely even noticed – at the time. At least for now\, he believes there’s hope for tomorrow.

SUMMARY:Joachim Cooder with West of Roan
DESCRIPTION:Joachim Cooder \nJoachim grew up surrounded by music alongside his father\, legendary guitarist Ry Cooder who took him on the road at an early age on the drums\, playing both live and in the studio. These touring and recording projects allowed him to share stages and recordings with Johnny Cash\, Ali Farka Touré\, V. M. Bhatt\, Steve Earle\, John Lee Hooker\, Dr. John\, Nick Lowe\, and most notably the award winning project The Buena Vista Social Club. \nJoachim discovered the joys of playing an electric mbira through a small amp\, and the sound that emanated was inspired by the world music that always captivated him\, Im always hearing some sort of defunct cosmic ice cream truck in my head  thats the sound Im after with my mbiras and tank drums and other tuned percussion.” \nWest of Roan \nA NW duo from Bellingham and Waldron Island\, West of Roan is a multi-media performance team of song & puppetry. “We sing (and do the same with fiddle) in close two part harmonies\, exploring how singing uplifts and unites this collaboration and friendship\, as well as discovering what sounds & chordal structures bring us closer to the complex emotions in the stories we tell. We play heavily with voice crossing\, dissonance an modal harmonies.” \nAdvance tickets $22 Day of Show $25 Ticket link: Joachim Cooder with West of Roan (brownpapertickets.com)
