SUMMARY:Days of Light 2023 - Cedar Dreamer & Mountain Holler with Traesti Darling
DESCRIPTION:Bellingham locals Traesti and Alexandra (fka The Living Arrows) perform as the acoustic duo Traesti Darling. Their music\, influenced by folk\, jazz\, and pop\, defies genre and captivates audiences of all ages. \nTraesti Darling brings lyrical journeys to life with enchanting harmonies and toe-tapping rhythms that tend to cause listeners to dance\, sing\, laugh\, and cry. The weaving of their voices has been compared to Simon and Garfunkel\, but their poetry has a soul-enlivening quality entirely its own. Their original songs are carried by catchy melodies\, emotional depth\, and a unique flair that will keep your ears piqued\, your heart open\, and your soul eager for more. \nMountain Holler is the deeply whimsical cavernous alt-folk project of Seattle\, WA based musician Mark Etherington. Each song is a meditation on nature\, the shadowed side of our human experience in this realm and the dream-music of Etherington’s explorations through his own mind. We must also mention the heavy influence from Tolkien lore. These explorations are transcribed and projected using acoustic guitars in unusual\, alternate tunings\, live-looped drones and haunting vocals layered that provides the listener an invitation to glimpse into one human’s experience of this world and our shared nature. \nCedar Dreamer is the solo project of Alexander Freilich. Since 2014\, Cedar Dreamer has been creating reverent ambient music that looks to the cycles\, shapes\, and sounds of the wild Earth for a never-ending well of inspiration. Devoted to deepening human-nature connection through music\, Cedar Dreamer strives to create spaces\, both sonic and physical\, for deep journeys of the heart and mind. \nhttps://newprospecttheatre.thundertix.com/events/213298

SUMMARY:ALL MY LITTLE WORDS: A Performance Lecture on Art and Failure
DESCRIPTION:I’m afraid of being an artist who doesn’t make art. \nIn 2004 Ashley Hollingshead met Nate Harpel while they were both undergrads at Western Washington University. They became best friends and life long artistic collaborators…or that was the plan anyways. \nIn ALL MY LITTLE WORDS Ashley uses Nate’s unfinished graduate playwriting thesis as a jumping off point to explore the concepts of artistic failure\, practice\, and success. All the while examining their changing relationship with Nate and with their own artistic practice in this interactive performance/lecture/essay. \n— \nAshley Hollingshead (they/them) is a director\, performer\, and collaborator currently living on the unceded lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde/Portland\, Or. They hold a MFA in European Devised Performance Practice from Columbia College Chicago. Their practice mashes up personal narrative\, queer culture\, and sweet dance moves made by a non-dancer body. In 2006 they graduated from WWU with BA in theatre and they are so excited to be bringing this piece to Bellingham! \nTickets available here: ALL MY LITTLE WORDS: A Performance Lecture on Art and Failure (bpt.me) and at the door. \n
