SUMMARY:The Iliad\, The Odyssey\, and all of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less
DESCRIPTION:The Iliad\, The Odyssey\, and all of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less \nBy Jay Hopkins and John Hunter \nDirected by Allissa Flood \nOn a simple stage\, with the clock ticking in front of everyone’s eyes\, the cast speeds through all of Greek Mythology. It’s funny\, updated\, and made easy to understand. The Gods walk the Red Carpet. The Creation of Mankind is a botched subcontractors job. Man and Pandora try settling down despite an ominous wedding gift. Love stories are a dating show and the Greek Tragedies are sports highlights! And don’t forget the two greatest stories ever told\, The Iliad and The Odyssey. Kidnap Helen of Troy and you’ve got a 10 year slap-fight of epic proportions with pouty Achilles\, war-hungry Agamemnon\, and clever Odysseus\, destined to wander the seas for 10 more years fighting giants\, seductresses\, and the Gods themselves. All the silly decisions\, the absurd destinies\, and the goofy characters are presented lightning-bolt fast with hysterical results as the clock is stopped with only seconds to spare. \n“The Iliad\, The Odyssey\, and all of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French\, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com \nCautions: no special cautions \nTickets: https://newprospecttheatre.thundertix.com/events/228232/performances \n

SUMMARY:Wizard People\, Dear Bellingham
DESCRIPTION:Willikers! The holiday season is upon and that can mean but one thing: the return of “Wizard People\, Dear Bellingham”! \nCome watch as Professor Brett Niley performs his surreal one-man reinterpretation of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” as a live band provides the score\, a foley artist performs live sound effects\, and a heavily mutated version of the film is projected behind them all. \nIt takes the fourth-wall-breaking of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and the schlock antics of Rocky Horror to delirious new heights. \nFor years a sold out event in Portland\, this show is hellbent on clawing its way into the wintertime heart of Bellingham. \n  \n$15 presale / $20 day of tickets available at the door. \nAdvanced tickets: https://newprospecttheatre.thundertix.com/events/236157

SUMMARY:Into the Woods
DESCRIPTION:Into the Woods:  “Be careful what you wish for” seems to be the ongoing theme in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Brothers Grimm inspired musical\, Into the Woods. When the Baker and his wife are visited by the neighborhood witch\, who reveals to them that she placed a curse on their family\, the two set off on a journey into the woods to reverse the curse. Also in the woods\, we meet Little Red\, who is trying to visit her grandmother\, the Wolf who loves tasty little girls\, the Witch’s daughter Rapunzel\, and the Princes chasing after their loves. By the end of Act I\, everyone has gotten their wish and will seemingly live happily ever after. But in Act II\, when Jack’s beanstalk brings them a visit from an angry Giant\, we see how the consequences of their actions haunt them in disastrous ways. The community must come together to save each other and their kingdom\, but sacrifices must be made. \n  \nInto the Woods Is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI) All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.  www.mtishows.com \n \n \nDates:   \nJan 18th 7pm \nJan 19th 2pm and 7pm (understudy performance) \nJan 24th 7pm (understudy performance)  \nJan 25th 2pm and 7pm \nJan 26th 2pm and 7pm \n \n \nTicket link:   INTO THE WOODS via ThunderTix

SUMMARY:The Broadway Melody
DESCRIPTION:The Broadway Melody (1929) was the first film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture\, achieving this at the 2nd Academy Awards in 1930. With a modest budget of $379\,000\, it grossed an impressive $4.4 million at the box office. The film featured an early attempt to use Technicolor\, though this sequence only survives in black and white today. Classified as a “backstage musical\,” the film delves into the behind-the-scenes drama of performers. Some of its songs\, including “You Were Meant for Me\,” were later reused in other classic musicals like “Singin’ in the Rain” (1952). The production was hastily done under MGM’s head of production\, Irving Thalberg\, who feared it might not succeed\, yet it became a massive hit and set the stage for future musicals. \nTickets available at the door.
