SUMMARY:Sofia Talvik
DESCRIPTION:Unmistakably Nordic in flavor\, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music\, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy. A veteran performer with 7 full length albums as well as numerous EPs\, singles and tours behind her. \nThe latest album “Paws of a Bear” released in September 2019 gained a lot of critical acclaim in both the U.S and Europe\, charting on the top lists of U.S Folk Radio\, Roots Music Report and Euro Americana Charts. The first single “Take Me Home” stayed in the top 10 of U.S Folk Radio Charts for several months. Many of the songs of the album are on the theme of home and identity. \n“A keen songwriter\, the indie folk artist crafts beautiful soundscapes of subtle\, rootsy timbres that place the pristine storyteller’s voice at their center. In this case of developing savvy arrangements that highlight her haunting vocals\, the roots music that Talvik develops is of a similar tapestry to Joni Mitchell\, tapping into that same knack for soul-stirring clarity and resonance. Between\, however\, is something of a different nature. Open-air production sets the scene for an evocative and atmospheric release from the Swedish folk artist.” – PopMatters \nAdvance tickets $22 : https://newprospecttheatre.thundertix.com/events/215227 \nDay of tickets $25 (if available) can be purchased at the door

SUMMARY:Pass Over
DESCRIPTION:PASS OVER\, by Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu is heading to Bellingham! \n  \nThe Bellingham Theatre Guild at New Prospect Theatre will be hosting Stage Left Theater’s production of Pass Over on Saturday\, September 9. \n  \nPass Over recently took top honors at the American Association of Community Theatres’ (AACT) national competition in Louisville\, Kentucky. Awards included Best Play\, Best Director\, and Best Ensemble. The national win comes after the troupe took a host of awards at state and regional competitions in Tacoma\, Washington and in McMinnville\, Oregon. \n  \nMoses and Kitch stand around on the corner – talking shit\, passing the time\, and hoping that maybe today will be different. As they dream of their promised land\, a stranger wanders into their space with his own agenda and derails their plans. Emotional and lyrical\, Pass Over crafts everyday profanities into poetic and humorous riffs\, exposing the unquestionable human spirit of young men stuck in a cycle just looking for a way out. A provocative riff on Waiting for Godot\, Pass Over is a rare piece of politically charged theater by a bold new American voice. (Concord Theatricals\, 2023). \n  \nStage Left’s production includes Dahveed Bullis as Moses\, Matthew Slater as Kitch\, and Danny Anderson as Mister/Ossifer. The play is 52 minutes long with no intermission. Other troupe members include Malcolm Pelles (Director)\, Michael Schmidt (Stage Manager)\, Alana Shepherd (Lighting Designer)\, and Jeremy Whittington (Scenic and Sound Designer). The troupe performed an encore performance at Gonzaga University in July\, but this will be their first out-of-town tour of the play after the trip to nationals. \n  \nAdvanced Tickets: Pass Over via ThunderTix \n  \nKaleidoscope Combo (both When Jack Met Jill and Pass Over): Kaleidoscope Combo via ThunderTix

SUMMARY:When Jack Met Jill
DESCRIPTION:BELLINGHAM THEATRE GUILD presents Adam Szymkowicz’s wildly imaginative post-modern life story of fable-famous Jack and Jill (post-bucket and out of chronology!) as their first production on the Lucas Hicks stage. \nDirected by Suzanne Mackay and a cast of fabulous local actors\, WHEN JACK MET JILL follows the mostly-post-bucket lives of the famous couple throughout time and the ages as they struggle with the definitions of their relationship to each other.  This goofy adult travail\, like most of Szymkowicz’s work\, mixes light and dark with a contemporary wariness of either. \n“WHEN JACK MET JILL is produced by special arrangement with THE GERSH AGENCY\, 41 Madison Avenue\, 29th Floor\, New York NY  10010 \nThe Bellingham Theatre Guild is a volunteer theater that has been serving the Whatcom County community since 1927.  More information about BTG can be found at www.bellinghamtheatreguild.com. \nUM ROLL PLEASE** Congratulations Bellingham Theatre Guild with their performance of “When Jack Met Jill” at #kaleidoscope23. SUMMARY:Mama's Broke from Nova Scotia
DESCRIPTION:Mamas Broke is a powerful folk duo that deliver a compelling performance with heart and raw energy. Although highly influenced by their Canadian roots\, Lisa and Amy are based out of nowhere and everywhere. \nTheir two strong voices blend to create haunting harmonies\, while they artfully juggle fiddle\, banjo\, guitar and mandolin\, and incorporate traditional dance and foot percussion into their performance. Their original  and often dark  compositions push the boundaries of tradition and the constraints of genre. Drawing from old-time\, Quebecois\, blues\, punk\, Celtic\, Balkan and  doom metal\, they create a soundscape that is both familiar and new. \nSince forming the band in 2014\, Mamas Broke has been gaining momentum fast ; having already completed two European\, and several Canadian and U.S. tours. They have performed in a wide range of venues\, from circus shows in New Orleans\, to pirate ships in Amsterdam\, to concert halls in Ireland\, to theatres in Brooklyn. In this way\, they stay true to the transient nature of folklore\, as they travel the world sharing and collecting song. \nVideo link: Mama’s Broke: Tiny Desk Concert. \nTickets: Mama’s Broke from Nova Scotia (brownpapertickets.com.)

SUMMARY:Chicago The Musical: Teen Edition
DESCRIPTION:Our production of Chicago is designed to redefine the look most commonly associated with the show. Our Chicago shares the same story while including body types and gender identities that have previously been left out of the story. Additionally our show is geared toward what happens when women are in charge of their own stories. Chicago explores themes such as murder\, death\, pregnancy\, mild-sexual references\, infidelity\, and employs the use of prop guns. Please consider how these themes may affect you while making your choice to join us at the theatre. \nLittle Lemon Productions is a student run theater company dedicated to producing shows for students by students. Our upcoming show Chicago marks our first Repertory Program production. These productions aim to educate students on what a professional process looks like while implementing union standards. Our hope is that by educating students on what union standards look like our students are prepared to go into professional spaces\, and know warning signs of situations that violate their rights and are potentially dangerous. Little Lemon is dedicated to ensuring that money is never a barrier to a student’s participation and has been fundraising and working to eliminate tuition from the company. Your support and visit to the theatre goes directly to Little Lemons future. Our current goals being\, building a size inclusive costume closet and financial equity for our performers through tuition free show and scholarship accessibility. We thank you for your donations and your constant support of Little Lemon. SUMMARY:Chicago The Musical: Teen Edition - Understudy performance
SUMMARY:Chicago The Musical: Teen Edition
DESCRIPTION:Beginning in 2018\, Little Lemon Productions (LLP)\, started by Adaryn Healy and Brody Buck\, worked to create a safe\, creative space for students by students. Our first project showed our student community that we have the ability and power to create meaningful\, fun\, and beautiful art together. LLP allows students from all schooling and performing backgrounds to learn and grow together. By creating this space\, we can ensure all students have an opportunity to shine in many different ways\, such as; Directing\, Stage Management\, Light and Sound work\, Set Design\, Music Direction\, Pit Orchestra Direction and Membership\, and many\, many more. Adaryn and Brody began this company with the hope that students from all the surrounding areas could have access to theater that is inclusive and empowering. As time has gone on\, LLP has continued to expand its team and its student outreach; it regularly has student participants from 3 different school districts and seven different high schools. \nTickets available  in advance and at the door. \nAdvance tickets: Chicago via ThunderTix
