SUMMARY:When Jack Met Jill
DESCRIPTION:BELLINGHAM THEATRE GUILD presents Adam Szymkowicz’s wildly imaginative post-modern life story of fable-famous Jack and Jill (post-bucket and out of chronology!) as their first production on the Lucas Hicks stage. \n12/20/2022- Bellingham WA – The Bellingham Theatre Guild presents When Jack Met Jill by Adam Szymkowicz\, their official entry to the Kaleidoscope State Theatre Festival\, for its premiere local performances at the New Prospect Theatre on January 12-15\, 2023.  Directed by Suzanne Mackay and a cast of fabulous local actors\, WHEN JACK MET JILL follows the mostly-post-bucket lives of the famous couple throughout time and the ages as they struggle with the definitions of their relationship to each other.  This goofy adult travail\, like most of Szymkowicz’s work\, mixes light and dark with a contemporary wariness of either.  Evening performances are at 8pm\, and the matinee on the 15th starts at 1pm\, tickets are $15. \nThe Kaleidoscope Festival\, which takes place February 9-12\, 2023 in Tacoma\, is the Washington State leg of the AACTFest’23 National One-Act Play Competition.  When Jack Met Jill will be the Bellingham Theatre Guild’s sixth play entered into the adjudicated community theater competition over the years\, with previous shows earning awards at the State\, Regional and National levels.  Plays are limited to one hour with a ten-minute set-up/take-down time\, and the talented actors (David Bolden\, Kris Erickson\, Audrey Henderson\, Karl Ritter-Smith) and designers (Chris Coombs\, Keefe Healy) get one performance to prove they deserve to move forward to Regional\, and\, hopefully\, National stages.  This time\, Bellingham Theatre Guild is presenting their entry for local consumption at the New Prospect Theatre cuz what’s the point of local theatre without sharing locally with locals?  Exactly!  Come on down to the New Prospect Theatre\, cheer us on and support two theaters with one show! \n“WHEN JACK MET JILL is produced by special arrangement with THE GERSH AGENCY\, 41 Madison Avenue\, 29th Floor\, New York NY  10010 \nThe Bellingham Theatre Guild is a volunteer theater that has been serving the Whatcom County community since 1927.  More information about BTG can be found at www.bellinghamtheatreguild.com. \nTickets: https://bpt.me/5679561

SUMMARY:Heathers - the musical
DESCRIPTION:Beginning in 2018\, Little Lemon Productions (LLP)\, started by Adaryn Healy and Brody Buck\, worked to create a safe\, creative space for students by students. Our first project showed our student community that we have the ability and power to create meaningful\, fun\, and beautiful art together. LLP allows students from all schooling and performing backgrounds to learn and grow together. By creating this space\, we can ensure all students have an opportunity to shine in many different ways\, such as; Directing\, Stage Management\, Light and Sound work\, Set Design\, Music Direction\, Pit Orchestra Direction and Membership\, and many\, many more. Adaryn and Brody began this company with the hope that students from all the surrounding areas could have access to theater that is inclusive and empowering. As time has gone on\, LLP has continued to expand its team and its student outreach; it regularly has student participants from 3 different school districts and seven different high schools. \nHeathers – the musical (bpt.me)

SUMMARY:Unsubdued Review
DESCRIPTION:Formed in April 2022\, the Unsubdued Theatre Collective is a group of actors\, playwrights\, directors\, and other theatrical artists with the objective of dismantling hierarchical structures in traditional theaters. Members are committed to fostering a safe environment for artists whose voices are not bolstered by mainstream theatre to create and perform new works. By putting the community at the center of the process\, the collective is reevaluating the way a play is made in order to form a bolder vision for a revolutionary stage. \nUnsubdued Review (bpt.me)

SUMMARY:Jeffrey Martin
DESCRIPTION:Jeffrey Martin writes music that probes the depths of the human experience and doesn’t shy away from its darkest corners. His songs can feel like short stories from literary giants like Steinbeck\, Burroughs\, or Cormac McCarthy and possess a raw intensity that comes from seeing his subjects up close. All the struggle\, hurt\, strife\, and heartbreak that comes from living in this world are laid bare and unvarnished\, yet somehow\, Martin manages to mine and make space for what beauty remains.\nPresently\, Jeffrey Martin is writing for his fourth full-length album at a deliberative pace and making plans to enter the studio to record this winter. He’s recently signed with Tommy Alexander of the Wassermann Agency and has returned to the road for an extended 52-date tour of the US and Canada. An extensive summer tour originally planned for 2020 is now scheduled for 2022 and will include stops in the U.K.\, Netherlands\, Sweden\, Denmark\, Belgium\, and Ireland. \nTicket link: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/5668057

SUMMARY:Lowest Pair
DESCRIPTION:Kendl Winter and Palmer T. Lee are two kindred spirits who first met on the banks of the Mississippi while touring the Midwest festival circuit. Born and raised in Arkansas\, Winter found herself drawn to the evergreens and damp air of the Pacific Northwest\, as well as the boundless music scene of Olympia\, Washington. She released three solo records on Olympia-based indie label\, K Records\, and performed in ramblin folk bands and anarchic punk bands before serendipitously meeting Palmer T. Lee in 2013. Lee had built his first banjo when he was 19 from pieces he inherited and began cutting his teeth fronting Minneapolis string bands before convincing Winter that they should form a banjo duo. Now\, as The Lowest Pair\, they have recorded and released five albums together\, relentlessly toured North America\, and ventured to the UK twice\, playing over 500 live shows over the past five years. \nAfter each releasing solo albums via Conor Obersts Team Love Records in 2018\, Winter and Lee began working on The Lowest Pairs forthcoming 10- song set\, The Perfect Plan. As a songwriting team\, the duo tends to see artistic sparks all around them  in poems\, people\, ideas\, experiences  and throughout the process of writing these new songs\, they felt the need to push their creative limits. They turned to producer Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes who took them to ARC Studios in Omaha\, Nebraska\, and set them in a soundscape backed by a slate of session players that lifts the album from simple folk into spirited Americana and beyond. Clawhammer banjo and acoustic guitar still hold the heart of The Lowest Pair\, but the fleshed-out sound of The Perfect Plan leans gently into Winter’s punk past\, as well as the sonic playground of her mind\, to set the band down a new path on their musical journey. \nTicket link: The Lowest Pair in Bellingham (brownpapertickets.com)
